September 11, 2007 - Culture Commission Proposes Resolutions

The Culture Commission will be proposing three separate resolutions to the Tribal Council in the September 17, 2007 Council meeting. the Culture Commission is taking public comment on the proposed resolutions. If you have any comments, please send them to: Culture Commission, PO Box 128, Lame Deer, MT 59043.

Please include your contact information and your signature, as the comments will be distributed to the Council. Additionally, if you would like to attend the meeting in support of or in opposition of any of these resolutions, please feel free to attend. These proposed resolutions are for the benefit of the Tribe and its services to the tribal members. These are not politically motivated or personal attacks on any tribal members, programs, nor previous councils or administrations.

1. A resolution of the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council recognizing the Northern Cheyenne children as the most valuable cultural resource of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe.
2. A resolution of the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council withdrawing the recognition and support of the Medicine Wheel Coalition for sacred sites of North America.
3. A resolution of the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council expanding ordinance no 10 (97) to begin implementing the Cheyenne language in Northern Cheyenne tribal government documentation and in the Northern Cheyenne communities.

August 22, 2007 - Administrative Leave

Dr. Richard Laughter, a member of the Navajo Nation and an active Ceremonial man, will be discussing models he has developed to incorporate both the Western and the Traditional Native American Treatment models in the treatment of Behavioral Health patients with an emphasis on Substance Abuse patients.
